Monique started her career in 1987 with a diploma of graphic design in Sydney Australia.
She moved to The Gold Coast, Queensland in 1990 to pursue the beaches and warm weather (and some more interesting artistic opportunities). She noticed restaurants on the Gold Coast were displaying their menus on blackboards and she was sure she could do something much more colourful and artistic. All went well, but people started rubbing their fingers through her artwork, so, back to the drawing board. Monique decided to invent “Smudge Resistant” CHALK ART.
After 2 years of research and tests, finally, Monique and her family discovered the perfect combination of ingredients. Monique’s career exploded. Her trade secret stayed top secret for the next 10 years. Sign companies from all over the world contacted Monique wanting to know how it was done!

In 2000, she was asked to start a school to teach her chalkart secrets and skills.
At first the answer was a firm ‘NO”. After much persuasion, she agreed, but with one very definite rule:

Students must promise never to disclose Monique’s trade secrets
to another person

Monique would not teach unless students agreed to her request.

In 2000 Monique opened the world’s first Chalk Art School,
on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Over 600 students have travelled thousands of miles to
learn Monique’s techniques and trade secrets.
